Child Development Lab
A classroom for future professionals
ASU students gain hands-on experience working with children and families while learning from experienced educators. The Child Development Lab helps bridge the gap between coursework and professional practice.
Practicum opportunity
Want to gain experience while you're learning about child development? CDE 338 is a practicum course offered each fall and spring semester that gives students the opportunity to work directly in the Child Development Lab. Students enrolled in the course spend six hours each week in our classrooms, applying concepts from their coursework while learning alongside experienced early childhood educators. It's a chance to build practical skills, observe child development in action and gain experience working with young children in a research-based early learning environment.

Volunteer opportunities
Volunteering at the Child Development Lab is a great way to spend time in our classrooms, learn from experienced educators and observe how young children grow, play and learn. Whether you're exploring a career in education, child development or simply enjoy working with children, volunteering offers a meaningful introduction to the field while supporting our classroom community.

Employment opportunities
The center employs ASU students as part-time classroom assistants. These positions are only available to currently enrolled ASU students. Preference is given to students who are eligible to receive federal work-study funding as well as to students who are enrolled in child development, early childhood education or a closely related field of study.
